Why Cruelty?

These are picture of several pigeons, which come behind Albert Hall Museum of Jaipur everyday for grains and water. But now a fresh diktat by the Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje would leave the stately Albert Hall in Jaipur pining for birds, forever.

Every day the Albert Hall comes alive with the fluttering of a thousand pigeons that flock to the monument for a mouthful of feed handed by regular visitors.
Now, people around are not being allowed by the police for feeding the birds with pigeons.

"The pigeons are damaging the beauty of this building. We would bring falcons (prey birds) at the Albert Hall so that they fly elsewhere," Raje told media on Tuesday.

"If Raje really wants some reforms, she should catch the Kabootarbaj," someone said referring to MPs indulging in human trafficking. If the signboards were not removed soon, the NGO would launch an agitation in Jaipur, he added.

Its being too "cruel" to remove those birds, which have made their homes as that place. Doesn't she know the places in London, Venice etc. are also tourist places? Pigeons are the beauty of those sites? Why she's being so cruel to them? She is not taking any measures also to place them somewhere else.

Just imagine, no fluttering of feathers by pigeons, no cuckoo singing, no jostling for food grains, its pity... Why people become so cruel? Can't anyone do anything?

Though i empathise with you and the birds, it is nothing but balancing act. When they spread beyond a level, then it is not good for the local eco-system and a balancing act is imminent.

I remember having seen a report about one US city taking the such step. These birds nest at high rise buildings and leave their shit there. Not only the place smells, even plants germinate from there and threaten the structure. It is difficult to clean high rise buildings often.

Sometimes, less is cute !

Quite true, pigeons have been sitting on historical buildings for centuries even before Ms scindia was born - how can you change nature - silly idea of hers.
